Seamew was built in 1920 by John Crossfield & Co. in Conwy.  Seamew has been stationed in Trearddur Bay since 1923 and been in the Richmond / Arkle family since 1939 when she was acquired from T.W. Williams by Frank M Arkle (father of Frank W M Arkle, commodore from 1966-68).

A Rhoscolyn Race specialist while owned by Frank W M Arkle, she was campaigned heavily in the 1980's and 1990's by Richard Arkle, winning the Challenge Cup 6 times and a number of other trophies along the way.

After a brief period of shared ownership, Seamew has been owned by the Richmond family since 2004.  During this time, Seamew has won over 70 trophies including the Challenge Cup 11 times, with a run of 6 from 2008-2013.
